R.B. Meets R.B. (Arby)

A great update on the Peke Doggie Diner I created for Potomac Valley Peke Rescue.  As you know, I create my diners for them in the images of the wonderful and beautiful Pekes they rescue and take such great care of.  This diner was created in the image of a little girl Peke named R.B.

A wonderful thing happened.  R.B. found her fur-ever home.  Her new mommy and daddy decided to call her R.B. but spell it Arby.

Arby’s new mommy saw the diner, thanks to Jeanne posting it on Potomac Valley Pekingese’s Facebook page and the rest is history.  R.B. the diner is now with Arby the little girl.  They both found their way.

I love happy endings like this.  I have pledged to create more diners for PVPR and every diner and/or creation will have one of the precious Pekes faces on it.  For every diner you buy from me privately, half always goes to the rescue to help them with veterinary care, food, beds, etc., for the precious lives they save.  One person may not save all the animals in the world.  But for every one we do save, it changes their world forever.

My Dogs Live Here

My Dogs live here

My dogs live here, they’re here to stay.  You don’t like pets, be on your way.

They share my home, my food, my space.  This is their home, this is their place.

You will find dog hair on the floor, they will alert You’re at the door.

They may request a little pat, a simple “no” will settle that.

It gripes me when I hear you say “Just how is it you live this way?  They smell, they shed, they’re in the way”  WHO ASKED YOU? is all that I can say.

They love me more than anyone, my voice is like the rising sun.

They merely have to hear me say “C’mon, time to go and play”.

Then tails wag and faces grin, they bounce and hop and make a din.  They never say “no time for you,” they’re always there, to GO and DO.

And if I’m sad? They’re by my side, and if I’m mad, they circle wide, and if I laugh, they laugh with me, they understand, they always see.

So once again, I say to you come visit me, but know this too…….

My dogs live here, they’re here to stay.  You don’t like pets, be on your way.  They share my home, my food, my space. THIS IS THEIR HOME, THIS IS THEIR PLACE.

All That I Love….

My love and passion doesn’t stop with just dogs.  I love and respect all animals we share this planet with.  They are our neighbors.  How can we respect ourselves if we don’t respect our neighbors and our home, planet earth.  Since the industrial revolution of mankind, humans have destroyed this magnificent planet.  Sure, some of our inventions are wonderful and make our lives much better, but we have become irresponsible about the well-being of not only our planet but others that live on it with us.

Nature in the wild is not fair, it’s not meant to be all roses without the thorns.  If you’ve ever seen a top predator hunt you know that all to well.  I know it’s part of life and survival of the fittest, but it still disturbs me when I see an animal kill another.  But the difference between them killing each other and us killing them, is that they do it for SURVIVAL, we do it because we can.  We tell ourselves it’s okay and believe it’s acceptable because they are not human and anything on this earth that is not human, we believe we are superior to.  Wake up call…..we are not superior to anything on this earth but the image we create in our own minds.  We are mammals, look it up.  We are part of the Great Ape family.

As a species we should be the guardians of others, we have a higher intelligence and we should us it wisely.  Instead we have chosen to hunt and kill innocent animals almost to the point of extinction.  If the show was on the other foot, where would you run?

When was the last time you took a good look at this planet?  There is no other like it that we know of.  I don’t think there is.  But we may never know the answer to that question.  Why are we destroying the only home we will ever have?  This planet once offered us beautiful blue seas rich with marine life, clean fresh air to sustain all life, soil that is rich for the growth of life.   Without our atmosphere we do not exist.   What is wrong with us and why.  I don’t know if we can repair the damage we have done, I hope we can and this planet forgives us.  Because if we have destroyed this planet and continue to do so we too will undoubtedly become extinct.

About Me

My name is Patrice Marotta.  I was born in Brooklyn NY and now live in northern Illinois with my wonderful husband and my wonderful furkids, the sweetest little souls on earth.   Fortunately, I was born ” wearing many hats”.  I have a background in veterinary dentistry and wildlife biology.  I studied dolphins and primates in Australia and I’ve loved animals since I was a small child.  I was always the kid who never wanted to play with dolls and carriages, I walked around with plastic horses or dogs.  My first prize in first grade was for drawing a horse.  My kids have 4 paws.  I am the proud mommy of two Yorkies, four Shih Tzu and one Lhasa Apso.

In the early part of the 1990’s I rescued.  I started with Collie rescue and then started Silent Voices a small toy breed rescue for the rehabilitation of dogs and training of people.  It was much easier to train a dog then a human.  Anyone who has done rescue work knows it’s emotionally draining on your heart and I cry very easily. Today, I still keep rescue close to my heart.

With my kids, I stop at nothing to give them a perfect life.  I practice preventive medicine, great nutrition, clean and healthy environment, plenty of playtime and clean teeth. I also have one of the very best vets in the midwest area which I am lucky to have found.

In this blog I have added and will continue to add, some of the best links in nutrition for dogs, rescue, breeders for my favorite breeds and many other interests of mine. Don’t take my word for it that they are the best, use the link and research it yourself.  This blog is ongoing and much more will be added as time goes on.  Thank you for visiting and enjoy!

P.S…..Please respect my artwork and pictures on this blog.  Do not use them as your own that is stealing and when you steal you become a “dirtbag” (to put it nicely).  Just because it’s the internet and you think you can get away with it doesn’t mean you still aren’t a dirtbag.  I wouldn’t do it to anyone, so don’t do it to me.  Respect others.

Thank you.

My Kids and Me.
